Fig 1. The number of patients presenting with head injury (6936) is an estimate based on the proportion of patients included out of the total number of patients with trauma seen by a neurologist or neurologist-in-training in the emergency department of the participating center that included most patients. Of the 3181 patients included in the CHIP study, 2869 did not have any evidence of a neurocranial traumatic findings on CT, leaving 312 patients eligible for inclusion in the current follow-up study.
