Lipomatous Meningioma
- As the name suggests, this is a meningioma with a fat component within it. This is a rare variant, and often leads to difficulty in histologic diagnosis.
- Clinical Presentation: Seizures, headaches, paresis, change in mental status, or focal neurological deficits can also be seen.
- Key Diagnostic Features:
- Features of a meningioma, with a fat component within.
- Typical features of meningioma, such as broad base against the dura, intense contrast enhancement, and dural tail, along with characteristics of fat content – hypodensity on CT (-80 HU) and hyperintense signal on T1WI, with suppression on fat-suppressed sequences.
- DDx:
- Dermoid
- Immature teratoma
- Rx: Surgical resection
