Frequently Asked Questions about Institutional Subscriptions
FAQ for institutional end users or library patrons.
My institution has a subscription to AJNR and access to AJNR Online, but I'm not able to see the full text of articles. I'm prompted for a username and password. Why is this happening?
When this happens, the IP address for your machine is not being recognized by our computer. This failure is caused by one of three things:
- Your institutional subscription has not yet been activated.
- The institutional administrator did not enter in all needed IP addresses for your institution.
- The institutional administrator did not properly list subnets that are routed through a proxy server.
What should I do?
- Talk to your librarian and let them know you are having trouble.
- If your librarian is unable to assist you, please have them contact the AJNR office for assistance.
Who is an institutional administrator?
An institutional administrator is the person in charge of maintaining IP addresses and institutional information for AJNR Online. Administrators are afforded access via username and password for purposes of providing such maintenance.
My library subscribes to the AJNR in print, and I can't get access to it online. Why?
Your institution may not have yet activated its institutional subscription to AJNR Online. All subscribers to the print journal also receive access to the electronic journal. Notify your librarian that you would like to access AJNR Online from a computer at your institution, and encourage your librarian to activate the online subscription. If you are trying to access the AJNR from a computer outside of your institution, please note that such access is not covered under the terms of an institutional subscription.
Who from my institution can access AJNR Online?
Any computer in the institution may be identified via IP address and provided access to the Website. Basic and Extended subscriptions are no longer applied based on the number of organizational sites but upon the amount of usage that emanates from an institution's IP addresses. Institutions considered heavy users will be prompted to renew at the Extended subscription rate.
What subscription packages are available?
Please see our Rates and Information page for a list of subscription options.
How can I tell if my institution has subscribed to AJNR Online?
If your institution has a subscription, you will automatically have access to the tables of contents, abstracts, full-text searching, full-text display, PDFs, and Publication Preview. You will also see text at the the top of the page confirming that you are signed in as part of an institution.
If your institution has not subscribed and you would still like to access the AJNR in print or online, you may choose to sign up for an individual subscription.
