Gray matter heterotopia is the most common migrational anomaly, with nodular type being more common than the band form. The clinical presentations of band heterotopia may be variable but usually encompass seizures and developmental delays. The double cortex (arrows) can be complete or partial and presents predominantly in women, as it is typically the result of an X-linked mutation that can be lethal to male fetuses. Band heterotopia is different from other lissencephaly by the presence of normal gyration.
