Spatial attention in children with perinatal stroke
2022, Behavioural Brain ResearchCitation Excerpt :Additionally, the children with LH lesions may have required more time to process the local details of the target stimulus, possibly explaining their poorer performance on the visual perception task. Multiple studies on the perinatal stroke population report mixed findings (e.g., [54,50,77,78,79]. Some studies report that children had little to no apparent developmental issues, while others report severe, long-lasting neurological morbidities such as hemiparetic cerebral palsy (e.g., [80].
Using magnetoencephalography to examine word recognition, lateralization, and future language skills in 14-month-old infants
2021, Developmental Cognitive NeuroscienceCitation Excerpt :The remaining twenty-two children (13 males) were on average 59.97 ± 0.58 (M ± SD) weeks old. Consistent with previous ERP word studies in young children (Conboy and Kuhl, 2011; Mills et al., 1993; Dehaene-Lambertz et al., 2002; Qi et al., 2019; Wulfeck et al., 1991), we created individualized lists of words based on parental ratings of a sample of 133 early-acquired monosyllabic nouns included in the CDI norming sample (Fletcher et al., 1999) and employed in a previous study (Mills et al., 1993). Productive vocabulary was assessed when participants 18, 21, 24, 27 and 30 months of age using the MacArthur-Bates Communicative Development Inventory (CDI), specifically, the 680-word checklist, ‘Words and Sentences’ (Fenson et al., 1993; Fenson et al., 2006).
