Arteriovenous Fistula of the Filum Terminale: A Case Report and Review of the Literature
2019, World NeurosurgeryCitation Excerpt :AVFs of the filum terminale often occur concurrently with lumbosacral degenerative disease, occasionally resulting in a delayed or missed diagnosis and, potentially, unnecessary spinal surgery that solely addresses the degenerative disease.20 Previous reports have identified initial surgical intervention for diagnoses such as lumbar nucleus pulposus herniation,8,20 tethered cord syndrome,4,9 and severe lumbar stenosis7,10 (Table 2). Our patient also presented with concurrent lumbar spondylosis and severe central stenosis from L3 to L5.
