Granular pituicytomas of the pituitary stalk

Summary

A case of suprasellar granular-cell tumour is presented. Only 27 other similar tumours in this location have been reported to date. These cases have been studied, and some clinical and radiological characteristics that are useful preoperatively are discussed. Regarding the pathological aspects, we have reviewed the various theories about the origin of these tumours and accept as the most plausible an origin from the granular pituicytes that can normally be found in the neurohypophysis and in the pituitary stalk.
