Intracranial pressure and ventricular expansion in hydrocephalus: Have we been asking the wrong question?
2008, Journal of the Neurological SciencesObstructive hydrocephalus and progressive psychosis: rare presentations of neurosarcoidosis
2008, Surgical NeurologyCitation Excerpt :Hydrocephalus most commonly results from obstruction of the aqueduct originally thought to be rigid. However, it has become increasingly recognized that CSF flow augmentation via brain parenchymal pulsations is an important component of normal physiologic CSF flow through the ventricular system [10,20,21]. Indeed, Fin and Grebe [5] have shown, through 3-dimensional modeling based on actual aqueduct of Sylvius length and diameters taken from MRI, that laminar CSF flow through a rigid tube is not adequate for known human CSF production and circulation rates.
