DR. JEFFREY S. ROSS, EDITOR-IN-CHIEF Dr. Jeffrey S. Ross is a Professor of Neuroradiology at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Phoenix, Arizona. Previously he was a Professor of Radiology at the Barrow Neurological Institute, Cleveland Clinic, and before that, an attending neuroradiologist at Case Western Reserve University. His main area of interest is spine imaging. He was a radiology resident and chief resident at the Cleveland Clinic and a neuroradiology fellow at Case Western Reserve University. He is Founding President of the American Society of Spine Radiology (ASSR) and Past President of the Eastern Neuroradiologic Society. His publications include 99 peer-reviewed articles, nearly 60 non-refereed articles, 33 book chapters, and 10 books. He was an AJNR Senior Editor from 2006-2015, is a member of the editorial board for 3 other journals, and a manuscript reviewer for 10 journals. He received the Gold Medal Award from the ASSR in 2013. |
DR. HARRY J. CLOFT, SENIOR EDITOR Dr. Harry J. Cloft is Professor of Radiology at the College of Medicine of the Mayo Clinic and a Consultant at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. His main area of interest is interventional neuroradiology. He obtained his MD and PhD degrees from Wayne State University and completed his radiology residency at the University of Michigan and diagnostic neuroradiology and interventional neuroradiology fellowships at the University of Virginia. Before moving to his current position, he worked as an interventional neuroradiologist at Emory University Hospital. He is or has been a principal or co-investigator in 11 funded projects. His publication record includes more than 200 peer-reviewed articles and more than 30 invited articles and book chapters. Dr. Cloft has been an AJNR Senior Editor since 2006 and is a manuscript reviewer for 6 other journals. |
BRYAN COMSTOCK, STATISTICAL SENIOR EDITOR Bryan Comstock, MS, is Senior Biostatistician at the Center for Biomedical Statistics at the University of Washington in Seattle, where he develops and supports grant applications for extramural funding in the areas of health services research, radiology, neonatology, nephrology, and surgery. He has served as the primary biostatistician for numerous randomized clinical trials and observational cohort studies and has developed electronic data capture systems for multisite randomized studies. He is a member of the Society of Clinical Trials and the co-author of more than 50 peer-reviewed articles indexed on MEDLINE. |

DR. CHRISTOPHER G. FILIPPI, SENIOR EDITOR Dr. Filippi is Professor and Alice Ettinger-Jack R. Dreyfuss Chair of Radiology, Tufts University School of Medicine and Radiologist-in-Chief Tufts University Medical Center. He is a graduate of Cornell University Medical College and completed training in diagnostic radiology at New York Hospital–Cornell and a 2-year neuroradiology fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine. Past President of the American Society of Functional Neuroradiology and Eastern Neuroradiology Society and formerly the Director of MRI Research at the University of Vermont, Division Chief of Neuroradiology at Columbia University, and Professor and Vice Chair of Biomedical and Translational Science at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, his research interests include artificial intelligence, DTI applications in pediatric neuroradiology, novel MR techniques (T1 rho), and translational MR in demyelinating disease and glioma. He has had extramural funding annually for the past 17 years, and he has more than 85 peer-reviewed publications and 125 presented/published abstracts at national and international meetings. He currently reviews for many MR and neuroimaging journals. |
DR. THIERRY A.G.M. HUISMAN, SENIOR EDITOR Dr. Thierry A.G.M. Huisman is the Radiologist-in-Chief and Chair of Radiology, Texas Children’s Hospital and Professor of Radiology, Pediatrics, Neurosurgery, and OBGYN, Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He previously served as Chairman of the Department of Imaging and Imaging Science at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and Director of the Division of Pediatric Radiology and Pediatric Neuroradiology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore where he was a Professor of Radiology, Pediatrics, Neurosurgery, and Neurology. He graduated cum laude from medical school at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, before completing residencies in radiology and pediatrics and fellowships in pediatric radiology and neuroradiology at the University Hospital Zurich in Switzerland. He became Chairman and Radiologist-in-Chief of the Department of Diagnostic Imaging at the University Children’s Hospital Zurich before transferring to Johns Hopkins. He has given 385 invited lectures, published 323 peer-reviewed articles and 61 book chapters, serves on multiple scientific committees, and has organized national and international meetings. Dr. Huisman is a faculty member of the AIRP course in Washington, DC, and course advisor for the IDKD course in Davos, Switzerland. He reviews for multiple scientific journals and is an editorial board member of five. He is the Past President of the American Society of Pediatric Neuroradiology and an elected fellow of the International Cancer Imaging Society. |
DR. YVONNE W. LUI, SENIOR EDITOR Dr. Yvonne W. Lui is Associate Professor of Radiology and Chief of Neuroradiology at New York University School of Medicine. She is a graduate of Yale University School of Medicine. She completed her radiology and neuroradiology training at NYU. Her interests are advanced MR imaging of the central nervous system and she leads an NIH-funded research program on brain injury. She is a charter member of the NIH Scientific Review Committee for Medical Imaging, reviews for seven other academic journals, and is a Past President of the New York Roentgen Society. |

DR. C. DOUGLAS PHILLIPS, SENIOR EDITOR Dr. C. Douglas Phillips is Professor of Radiology at Weill Cornell Medical College, and attending physician and Director of Head and Neck Imaging at NewYork–Presbyterian Hospital. His areas of interest are skull base and sinonasal pathology, head and neck cancer imaging, and diagnostic neuroradiology. He received his MD from the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University, was a resident in radiology at the University of Virginia Health System, and completed a 2-year fellowship in neuroradiology at UVA. He was previously the Division Director of Neuroradiology and the Director of the Neuroradiology Fellowship Program at UVA. His publications include more than 75 peer-reviewed articles and over 85 review articles, book chapters, and on-line chapters. He is Past President of the American Society of Head and Neck Radiology and the Virginia chapter of the ACR. He has served as the Radiology Editor for JAMA Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery and has reviewed for AJR, Radiology, and several otolaryngology and neurosurgery journals. He is currently a lecturer at the AIRP. |
DR. LUBDHA M. SHAH, SENIOR EDITOR Dr. Lubdha M. Shah is Professor of Radiology and serves as the Director of Advanced Spine Imaging at the University of Utah Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences in Salt Lake City. She completed her neuroradiology fellowship at Duke University Medical Center. Her research interests include clinical application of advanced imaging techniques, encompassing functional MRI and diffusion tensor imaging in the brain and spine. Dr. Shah has served on the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke K-Award Study Section for more than 6 years. In addition to reviewing for several radiology, neuroradiology, and neurosurgery journals, she holds the role of a Neuroradiology Panel Chair in the American College of Radiology and has authored Appropriateness Criteria and Practice Parameter Guidelines. Dr. Shah is currently President of the American Society of Spine Radiology. |

NICHOLAS STENCE, CASE OF THE MONTH EDITOR Dr. Nick Stence is Associate Professor of Radiology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, and the Director of Pediatric Neuroradiology at Children's Hospital Colorado. He completed residency training in radiology at the University of Colorado, a neuroradiology fellowship at the Barrow Neurological Institute, and a pediatric radiology fellowship at Children's Hospital Colorado. His main clinical and research interests are in pediatric stroke. He is a member of the International Pediatric Stroke Study, serving as Vice Chair of the Imaging Committee, and is a member of the International Pediatric Stroke Organization. He also participates in clinical research on fast MRI imaging techniques, neurometabolic disorders, and pediatric epilepsy. |
DR. MATYLDA MACHNOWSKA, CASE OF THE WEEK EDITOR Dr. Matylda Machnowska is an Assistant Professor of Radiology at the University of Toronto and a diagnostic neuroradiologist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. She completed her residency training at the University of Saskatchewan in 2011 and fellowship training in neuroradiology at the University of Toronto in 2013. She has taken on several leadership positions in resident and fellow education since her appointment. In 2021, she took on the role of University of Toronto Neuroradiology Fellowship Program Director. She is currently a Masters in Epidemiology candidate at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. |
DR. ANVITA PAURANIK, CASE OF THE WEEK EDITOR Dr. Anvita Pauranik is a pediatric neuroradiologist and Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She completed her radiology residency from KEM Hospital, Mumbai, India and her 2-year adult and pediatric neuroradiology training from the University of Toronto in 2015. She has a passion for teaching and is actively involved in improving resident and fellow training methodology. DR. VINIL SHAH, CASE OF THE WEEK EDITOR Dr. Vinil Shah is an Associate Professor of Radiology in the neuroradiology subspecialty in the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at the University of California, San Francisco. He specializes in imaging and targeted treatment of spinal and peripheral nerve disorders. Dr. Shah received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed a 1-year internship at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He did his radiology residency at UCSF, serving as Chief Resident. He completed a clinical fellowship and a Chief Fellowship in Neuroradiology at the Massachusetts General Hospital, followed by a clinical fellowship in musculoskeletal imaging and intervention at the same institution. In August 2014, Dr. Shah accepted the position of Assistant Professor of Radiology in Neuroradiology at UCSF. Dr. Shah’s research interests include exploring the role of imaging biomarkers in identifying specific pain generators, studying efficacy of minimally invasive image-guided intervention for treatment of acute and chronic back pain, and studying the use of emerging technologies for treatment of chronic pain and neoplastic processes. Dr. Shah is actively involved in medical student, resident, and fellow education. He is program director of the neuroradiology fellowship at UCSF. He is also an active participating member of several spine and neuroradiology societies including the Spine Intervention Society, ASSR, and ASNR. He is an instructor of the SIS and recently served as program chair of SIS Annual Meeting. He also serves on the education and program committees of the ASNR. |
DR. SANDY CHENG-YU CHEN, CLASSIC CASE EDITOR Professor Sandy Chen is a Taiwan neuroradiologist and neuroscience researcher. He has played active roles in Asian neuroradiology societies (currently, he is the President of the Asia-Oceanian Congress of Neuroradiology and the Immediate Past President of Neuroradiology Society of Taiwan). Professor Chen received his medical degree at the School of Medicine, National Defense Medical Center in 1985 and 1-year pediatric neuroradiology training at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia under Professor Robert A. Zimmerman during 1992-1993. Professor Chen now chairs the Translational Imaging Research Center at Taipei Medical University Hospital, aiming at translational research in brain tumor, ischemic stroke and mild traumatic brain injury. Professor Chen also serves as Vice President of Taipei Medical University. |
DR. PINA SANELLI, HEALTH CARE AND SOCIOECONOMICS EDITOR Dr. Pina C. Sanelli is a Professor of Radiology at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and Professor in the Center for Health Innovations and Outcomes Research at the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research. Dr. Sanelli serves as the Vice Chairman of Research in the Department of Radiology at Northwell Health. She is board-certified by the American Board of Radiology with Certificate of Added Qualifications in Neuroradiology. She completed a 2-year fellowship training program in neuroradiology at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Sanelli obtained a Master of Public Health degree from Harvard University. Dr. Sanelli's research interests are focused in the technology assessment and outcomes-based research of brain perfusion and permeability imaging in patients with cerebrovascular diseases, particularly acute stroke, aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, and chronic cerebral ischemia. She has a long-term track record of external research funding from federal agencies at the National Institutes of Health, private foundations, and industry to support this work. Recently, Dr. Sanelli has developed the Imaging Clinical Effectiveness and Outcomes Research program focused on demonstrating the value of imaging in health care. Through the years, she has published in this research field and mentored many junior faculty, trainees and students in clinical research. Dr. Sanelli is a national leader and advocate for training radiologists in comparative effectiveness and outcomes research through the CERT (Comparative Effectiveness Research Training) and VOICE (Value of Imaging through Comparative Effectiveness) programs held at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA). |

DR. GREG ZAHARCHUK, PHYSICS EDITOR Dr. Greg Zaharchuk is Professor of Radiology at Stanford University in the Division of Neuroimaging. He received his MD from Harvard Medical School, his PhD from the Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology program, and clinical radiology and neuroradiology training at the University of California, San Francisco. He is a clinical neuroradiologist and directs the Center for Advanced Functional Neuroimaging at Stanford University where his research focuses on advanced medical imaging techniques and algorithms (including AI) with the goal of alleviating the burden of neurological disease. He is a member of the editorial board of Radiology and the Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging. He is the President-Elect of the American Society of Functional Neuroradiology and chaired both 2018 Machine Learning Workshops sponsored by the International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine. He was recently elected as a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering. In 2018, together with Dr. Enhao Gong, he co-founded Subtle Medical, a company devoted to improving image quality and safety using AI. |

KEVIN HIATT, DEPUTY PODCAST EDITOR Dr. Kevin Hiatt is a current second year neuroradiology fellow at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and will be starting a position as an Assistant Professor of Radiology at Wake Forest beginning in July 2021. He is the faculty mentor for the Radiology Interest Group at Wake Forest and is the chair for the Future Radiologist Outreach Group for the North Carolina chapter of the ACR.
